Perspective

Winter. What comes to mind when you think of it? Cold, dark, snowy, frozen, icy, hibernation? Or maybe you think of sledding, frosted trees, hot cocoa, fireplaces, and chili. I suppose it depends on how you feel about the season. So really, it’s all a matter of perspective. I know some look forward to it so they can enjoy the outdoor recreation and catching snowflakes on their tongues. But others, it’s all about shoveling, frozen fingers, shoveling, falling on ice, and shoveling. I would have to say, I’m the one who would hibernate indoors with a good movie, chili, and a warm, fuzzy blanket. Each season has it’s pros and cons. Each one offers beauty and each one offers an ugly side. How we look at it, plays into how we feel about it. Wouldn’t it be great to always look at the bright side? Not just in the seasons as they come and go, but with life in general. You’ve heard the saying, “Is the glass of water half full or half empty?” Hmmm…though our answers may be different, it doesn’t change what’s in the glass. Likewise, no matter how we feel, what we go through or what circumstances surround us, it does not change the fact that God is still good, still in control and still faithful. If I see something in my life as unjust, unfair and hurtful, does that mean God has left the scene? Has He not heard my prayers or seen my tears? Of course not! When we are going through the valley, we so much need to remind ourselves that Gods word is still truth, and His promises are still for us, and He is still very real and very much a faithful, loving friend. If we (and I defiantly include myself) live each day according to our feelings, we will indeed become doubtful and discouraged. That is what the enemy would have us do. However, we need to focus on the Word of God and what He says, and even when we don’t ‘feel’ like praising, we need to. It is not only a command, but it helps to heal and restore our souls. I may not feel like God is listening to me, but HE IS. I may not feel as though He understands my pain, but HE DOES. I might feel like He’s close, thinking I’m all alone, but HE IS and YOU’RE NOT! Remember, it won’t always be this way. Now we struggle, and we ask questions and we wonder why, all of which God understands and does not condemn, yet one day is coming when He will restore all things to be as they should be. One day, when He reigns, we will have peace, love, joy, laughter, and there will continually be praise on our lips! What a wonderful promise to look forward to! But, until then, do not despair. You are not walking alone. Jesus is with you every moment of every hour and His grace is sufficient, even when we don’t feel like it is. Romans 8:28 “ And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.”
Notice it doesn’t say some things, but indeed, it says all things. That’s reassuring, and though there are days that we may have doubts, that does not change the fact that what God says is true! If you are born again, all His promises are for you, and He will carry you through. We are in this journey together. God loves you and He always will. So, no matter how you look at that glass of water, which is half empty or half full, it is still refreshing and it will quench your thirst. No matter how you feel about God on a hard day, He is still close, still faithful, still in control of your life, and You are still very much loved!

About myjourneywithjesus2017

Hello! My name is Sheree, and this is just a little about myself.  I am a mom, grandma, sister, aunt, daughter, sister-in-law and wife.  I enjoy baking and am presently baking at a family restaurant in my hometown of about 11,000.  I enjoy the computer, writing, love animals, good coffee and have a sweet tooth that never dies!  I also am a homebody, and enjoy spending time with my family.  I have 6 children of my own, 3 step children, and  14 grandchildren. I am married to Joe, (my second marriage) and we both enjoy being outdoors on nice days.  He enjoys the woods, while I enjoy my small deck with a shade tree. Every once in a while one of the kids or grandkids will stop by to brighten my day.  My husband and I both are Green Bay Packer fans, and attend an awesome church with an awesome Senior Pastor and staff. I am interested in Bible Prophecy and love Christian music, my favorite band being Casting Crowns, though there are so many great songs out there, I could never name them all.  Music connects me to God in such a personal way, mostly because they express what my heart has felt so many times. Lastly, I’m not rich, beautiful or famous and those have never been my goals, but I have a heart for God, and I have so many instances where He has moved and worked in my life.  Some of those times, I hope to share with you.  I know Jesus lives, and I know I will go to heaven when I am called ‘home’.  I also know without a doubt that He loves you more than anyone else.  You were on His mind as He hung on the cross, because you were the reason He was there.  I am the reason He was there, and so is every person on earth the reason He was there.  I want people to know there is hope.  There is always hope.  The only time when hope is gone, is if  you ever find yourself totally separated from God, after your death.  I pray that never happens and you can be sure it doesn’t.  Your soul will be saved if you say the sinners prayer, and you mean every word.  If you are looking for love, forgiveness, peace and eternal life, you need to look no further than the cross on which Jesus died for you.  He was raised on  the 3rd day and He has an awesome future in store for all those who believe.  Don’t wait until it’s too late. Sinners prayer-  “Dear Lord, I come to you in repentance of my sin.  I believe you died for me, rose again and you live today.  Please cleanse my heart and help me to live for you.  Thank you for forgiving me.  I surrender my life to you, and receive you as my personal Lord and Savior.  Amen.”
