Hello friends,
I don’t know what each of you are facing at this moment. I am assuming not one of us has everything in life going along just the way we’d like it. We have health issues, financial strain, have lost a loved one in death, feel the pain of a broken relationship, or maybe even have slipped into a depressive state, and you find yourself just not caring much about anything. I don’t know what the problem is, but I do know we all have them. Some of us may battle these issues every day and some of us perhaps, have our seasons, where they come and go. If I had the answer to fix everything, I would. Unfortunately, only God can do that, and rest assured, one day He will. That is what I need to remind myself, and even more so as I listen to the news and read the paper. I cry over those things I can’t change, but I know in my heart that God is still in control. No matter what I see, or what I hear, God remains sovereign and this world will indeed one day be made new, and Jesus Christ will reign as King over all, forever and ever.
One day this broken world will be renewed, just as our weak and sick bodies will be renewed. One day there will be total and everlasting peace! Think of it! PEACE! No more war, no more fear, no more turmoil, no more suffering. What a beautiful future awaits those who have trusted in Christ alone for their forgiveness of sin, and eternal salvation. That cannot compare to our extravagant imaginations! However, as it is written: “What no eye has seen, what no ear has heard, and what no human mind has conceived ”— the things God has prepared for those who love him 1st Corinthians 2:9
So because I always want this blog to be one of encouragement and good news, I then, want to encourage you not to dwell on all of the negatives in your life. We are not to hide our heads in the sand and hope it goes away, but we can refocus our thoughts when the enemy comes in like a lion, seeking to destroy any hope we may have. God tells us in His word to think about good things. Fill our minds with lovely, praiseworthy things. “Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.” Philippians 4:8
I need to remind myself as well. When I get ‘depressed’ or feel hopeless, I need to turn my eyes back to God and remember His promises. There are so many of them! I need to remember that the foundation I stand on is Rock solid! Jesus Christ is the Rock of my salvation and He will sustain me by His love and grace. The future is bright, because He is there. The more you think about Jesus, the dimmer this world becomes. He never changes even when our feelings and circumstances do. Hold tightly to Him. Do not be swayed in any other direction, other than Jesus! “The LORD is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation. He is my stronghold, my refuge and my savior.” 2 Samuel 22:3
Last but not least, know you are loved. God’s love can and never will be taken from you. It doesn’t matter what you did or didn’t do, He loves you, and will carry you through to the end. We are safe in His hands, so place yourself there, and never leave that place. You will be at rest there. You will be at peace there. You will be loved there, forever.
